Step Up for Baldy

Help restore the historic Old Baldy hiking trail at Petoskey State Park!
Located in the center of the park, Old Baldy is a back dune (a receeded sand dune now covered with trees), and the highest point in the park offering a view of both Little Traverse Bay and Round Lake. The trail includes 156 wooden steps and 250ft of boardwalk that help reduce erosion to the delicate dune ecology cause by foot traffic.  The stairs are 34 years old and showing their age.  People have been hiking this trail since the 1920's and Petoskey State Park wants to make sure that families can hike this historic foot path for generations to come!

"Keeping It Nice" on Little Traverse Wheelway

Help create new informative signage for the historic Little Traverse Wheelway that you will be running on during the race! One of the premiere trails in the Midwest, the LTW offers great views of Little Traverse Bay and has been used as a footpath for over 600 years. The informative signage is part of Top of Michigan Trails Council's "Keeping It Nice" campaign that will include ongoing trail maintenance as well as benches, drinking fountains and art along the trail in future years.

A BIG THANKS...

VOLUNTEERS
A heartfelt thanks to the 90 volunteers, ages 9-76 years, who were stationed around the bay from Bay Harbor to Harbor Springs. They were friendly and full of energy - what a difference it makes!  Without them, the race couldn't happen!
A special thanks to the middle school and high school runners from Harbor Springs Cross Country team who helped at Aid Station 1 with The North Face and put on the Kids' Run.  Also to the girls from Harbor Springs Shay Elementary Girls on the  Run who were at the finish line with water and did an A1 job at Aid Station 5 on Beach Dr. in Wequetonsing.  Their handmade signs and cheering were a big hit with the runners!
AID STATIONS
Runners know best that aid stations and high energy, friendly volunteers make or break a race.  Thanks to our aid station sponsors who were out there with drinks and word of encouragement to refuel the runners: The North Face, 45 North Yacht Management, Touring Gear, Bay Tennis and Fitness, Petoskey Brewing and Girls on the Run.
SPONSORS
32 businesses stepped up in support of this event.  Without it, there would be no Little Traverse Half Marathon.  From food, to awards, to finish line bling, the sponsors donated their services, products and support.  A special thanks to Bay Harbor for hosting the staging area and starting line!
